Five religious communities of women serving in the Diocese of Youngstown were invited to the Hamilton Forum meeting for October at St. Michael’s Church in Canton on Thursday, October 11. Representatives from each Community told those gathered about the history of each religious family and of their involvement within the diocese. The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Mark, the Sisters of Notre Dame, and the Congregation of the Divine Spirit told the story of how each community came to be formed and of how God led the Sisters to serve in this part of Ohio.
Being founded in 1956, we are the youngest of the Communities represented, and our history is intimately linked with the Second Vatican Council which opened 50 years ago that day.
May God grant many more women the grace to follow Him.
